HMWPE Cable

CerAnode’s Halar® Cable combines a high-performance ECTFE (Halar®) inner insulation with a rugged HMWPE outer jacket for maximum durability and chemical resistance. This dual-layer construction is ideal for demanding cathodic protection (CP) projects from deep anode groundbeds to marine and saltwater installations where exposure to corrosive gases, salt, or harsh soils is expected.

Built for long-term reliability, Halar Cable provides stable DC conductivity for anode leads, structure returns, and CP feeder circuits, even under challenging environmental conditions.

Key Features & Benefits

Materials & Construction:

  • ECTFE (Halar®) Primary Insulation: Provides outstanding chemical resistance, including against chlorine, acids, salts, and corrosive gases, protecting the conductor and insulation.
  • HMWPE Outer Jacket: Adds mechanical protection—abrasion, crush, moisture, and UV resistance—making the cable suitable for direct burial, underwater, or industrial environments.
  • Stranded Copper Conductor: Flexible, low-resistance copper conductor for dependable DC current flow and ease of installation.

Performance & Reliability:

  • Corrosion-Resistant for Harsh Environments: The Halar® inner layer resists degradation from salts, chlorides, and chemical exposure—critical for marine, coastal, or deep-bed CP installations.
  • Durable in Widely Varying Conditions: ECTFE remains stable and insulating over a broad temperature range; the dual insulation maintains performance in wet, submerged, or deep-buried applications.
  • Low Electrical Resistance & Reliable DC Feed: Copper conductor plus robust insulation ensures efficient current delivery for anode beds, minimizing voltage drop and maximizing CP system performance.

Flexibility & Versatility:

  • Suitable for Direct Burial, Subsea, or Chemical Service: Dual-insulated design handles underground soils, seawater, brackish water, or aggressive chemical environments.
  • Wide Range of Sizes & Customization: Available in multiple conductor sizes (AWG) and can be produced to order for custom lengths, conductor types (e.g. tinned copper), or special insulation/jacket combos.
  • Industry-Standard Specs: Meets common CP cable standards (ASTM, ICEA/NEMA), and rated for 600 V DC, direct burial and wet / dry conditions.

Applications

  • Deep-anode ground beds and remote CP systems in saltwater, brackish, or chemically aggressive soils.
  • Cathodic protection of pipelines, storage tanks, well casings, and offshore structures.
  • Marine environments—piles, piers, jetties, submerged supports, seawater-cooled systems.
  • CP installations in industrial, chemical, or processing plants where exposure to acids, solvents, or corrosive gases may occur.
  • Situations requiring direct-burial or submerged DC feeder cables with long service life and low maintenance.
