Test Stations

CerAnode’s CP Test Station provides a convenient, weather-resistant access point for monitoring the performance of a cathodic protection system. It connects the protected structure (pipeline, tank, vessel, etc.) and any reference electrodes or anode leads to a terminal box above ground, allowing technicians to quickly measure voltages, check continuity, and verify cathodic protection (CP) effectiveness without excavating or disrupting the system.

Test Stations are essential components in both impressed-current (IC) and galvanic CP systems, helping ensure the system remains within design parameters over time.

Key Features & Benefits

Connection & Monitoring Access:

  • Secure Terminal Enclosure: Provides a weather- and corrosion-resistant junction box or post to terminate structure leads, anode leads, reference leads, and test leads safely above ground.
  • Multiple Terminals / Circuits: Supports multiple wire terminations such as structure, anode, reference electrode, enabling complex CP layouts and multiple monitoring points.
  • Easy Access for Surveys: Enables quick “pipe-to-soil” potential measurements or current output checks without need for excavation or direct pipe access.

Durability & Environmental Protection:

  • Corrosion-Resistant Materials: Built from UV-stable, weather-resistant plastics or corrosion-resistant metals to withstand outdoor, buried, or coastal environments.
  • Long Service Life: Designed to stay sealed and functional for years, even under repeating wet/dry cycles, soil contact, and temperature variation.

System Integrity & Compliance:

  • Standard-Compliant Monitoring: Ensures CP systems meet regulatory or industry-standard inspection and monitoring intervals
  • Flexible Configuration: Can be configured for simple potential monitoring or more advanced setups, including bond boxes, current measurement shunts, and multiple circuit monitoring.

Applications

  • Pipeline systems (oil, gas, water, etc.) at intervals, crossings, casings, or ends of continuous segments.
  • Buried storage tanks, vessels, or underground metallic structures for structure potential and CP system monitoring.
  • Road- or railway-crossing casings, bonded joint sites, or foreign‐line crossings where CP monitoring is required.
  • Marine/coastal installations—docks, piers, seawater-exposed pipelines or tanks—requiring accessible CP test points above grade.
  • Remote or large CP systems where periodic inspections, current tracking, and system integrity verification are needed.
