Linear Anode in Coke Sock (PBL-CS)

CerAnode’s PBL-CS PiggyBack™ Linear in Coke Sock is a continuous MMO mixed-metal-oxide linear anode packaged inside a porous “coke sock” and supplied ready-to-lay for close-proximity impressed-current cathodic protection (ICCP).

The coke sock contains high-conductivity Loresco® Coke that forms an efficient conductive column when installed, improving ground-bed contact in both arid soils and immersed conditions.

The sock material used by CerAnode™ is environmentally safe and designed to decompose after installation, leaving a conductive coke column at the anode location.

Installation & Accessories

Site Preparation: Remove debris and prepare trench or routing path per cathodic protection (CP) design drawings. Ensure spacing and layout meet the engineer’s current distribution requirements.
Place Anode: Unspool and lay the PBL-CS linear anode in the planned alignment; position the coke sock around the anode if supplied separately.
Backfill / Burial: Backfill per design—the coke sock provides a conductive column that may be buried directly in soil or immersed in water. Use recommended backfill practices for best ground-bed performance.
Termination: Terminate the anode to the header/feed cable using factory terminations or approved low-resistance connectors; provide strain relief and mechanical protection at cable entries.
Monitoring & Commissioning: Install reference electrodes and test leads; energize rectifier, verify polarity, measure current output and IR-free potentials to confirm design criteria.
Inspection & Maintenance: Periodically check connections, junction boxes, and monitor potentials and current; the PBL-CS requires minimal routine maintenance but should be verified on a regular CP schedule.
