Multi-Channel Rectifiers (REC)

CerAnode’s REC Multi-Channel Rectifier is a versatile DC power supply designed to run multiple cathodic protection (CP) circuits from a single unit. Each channel can be independently adjusted to supply DC current to separate anode beds or protected structures, making the REC ideal for complex pipeline networks, multi-tank farms, or distributed CP systems. The REC provides reliable, stable DC output, flexibility in configuration, and simplifies CP system power management.

Key Features & Benefits

Design & Output Flexibility:

  • Multi-Channel Output: Supports multiple, independently controlled outputs—each channel can feed different anode beds or structures, enabling a single rectifier unit to manage several protection zones.
  • Adjustable Voltage/Current per Channel: Each circuit’s DC output can be tuned to match the required current or potential for its specific anode bed or structure.
  • Isolation Between Channels: Independent circuits reduce interference and allow different grounding / bed configurations without cross-coupling.

Electrical Performance & Efficiency:

  • Consistent DC Output: Provides clean DC current suitable for impressed-current cathodic protection (ICCP), ensuring effective polarization.
  • High Efficiency Rectification: Modern rectifier designs reduce energy loss and minimize voltage ripple, improving overall power efficiency.
  • Surge & Transient Protection: Many units include built-in surge arrestors or filtering to protect sensitive downstream CP components from voltage spikes or transients.

Durability & Environment:

  • Robust Enclosure & Construction: Designed to withstand the environmental demands of CP sites—suitable for installation at remote stations, tank farms, or field junction boxes.
  • Scalable for Large Systems: Because multiple beds or structures can be powered from one rectifier, system footprint and infrastructure costs can be reduced compared to multiple single-channel rectifiers.
  • Simplified Maintenance: Centralized control and fewer separate units reduce maintenance complexity and the need for multiple power supplies.

Integration & Control:

  • Compatible with Remote Monitoring / SCADA: Can integrate with remote monitoring modules, data loggers, and CP control systems for centralized status, alarms, and record-keeping.
  • Flexible Input Power Options: Compatible with single- or three-phase AC input; adaptable to different site power supplies.
  • Configurable Output Modes: Allows for different control modes per channel—constant current, constant voltage or potential-control depending on application (if supported by unit).

Applications

  • Multi-zone pipeline corrosion protection where different segments require independent current control.
  • Tank farms with several storage tanks needing separate CP circuits.
  • Refineries or chemical plants with multiple process lines, vessels, or buried systems under one CP control unit.
  • Facilities with both soil-side and submerged anode beds requiring different output settings.

Installation & Accessories

    1. Mounting: Install rectifier in a secure, ventilated enclosure — wall-, pole-, or skid-mount depending on site design.
    2. AC Supply Connection: Connect single-phase or three-phase AC as appropriate; include proper circuit protection (breaker/fuse).
    3. DC Output Wiring: Run lead cables from each channel to their respective anode beds, ensuring correct polarity, low-resistance connections, and proper insulation.
    4. Grounding & Surge Protection: Install surge arrestors and ground bonding per CP standards to protect against lightning or electrical interference.
    5. Monitoring Setup: Integrate with remote monitoring modules, data loggers, and test posts or SCADA if desired for centralized monitoring and logging.
    6. Commissioning & Adjustment: For each channel: set output current or potential, measure structure potentials, adjust as needed, and record baseline performance.
    7. Maintenance & Inspection: Periodically check ventilation, internal components, DC output stability, and connection integrity; keep spare parts (diodes, fuses, leads) on site if feasible.
