CerAnode™ Product

Magnesium Galvanic Anode

Galvanic Anodes

Coated steel pipe ends exposed in an excavated trench

Overview

CerAnode™ Magnesium Galvanic Anodes provide dependable, self-powered cathodic protection for buried steel structures and assets operating in high-resistivity soils and freshwater environments. As one of the most active sacrificial anode materials available, magnesium delivers a high driving voltage that provides effective corrosion protection without the need for rectifiers or external power.

Designed for underground and inland applications, CerAnode™ magnesium galvanic anodes are available in a variety of sizes, alloy compositions, and pre-packaged configurations to simplify installation and deliver reliable, long-term corrosion protection for pipelines, storage tanks, water systems, and other buried infrastructure.

Key Features & Benefits

High Driving Voltage

Magnesium provides one of the highest driving potentials among galvanic anode materials, making it ideal for high-resistivity soils and low-conductivity environments.

Self-Powered Corrosion Protection

Generates protective current without rectifiers, external power supplies, or complex electrical infrastructure, providing immediate galvanic protection after installation.

Optimized for Buried Applications

Engineered for reliable performance in soil and freshwater environments where magnesium offers superior current output compared to other galvanic anode materials.

Available Pre-Packaged or Bare

Offered in multiple alloy compositions with optional pre-packaged backfill to improve current distribution and simplify field installation.

Proven, Low-Maintenance Performance

Passive operation and predictable consumption provide dependable long-term corrosion protection with minimal maintenance requirements.

Typical Applications

  • Buried transmission and distribution pipelines
  • Aboveground and underground storage tanks
  • Water heaters and freshwater storage systems
  • Well casings and underground vessels
  • Valve stations, utility infrastructure, and buried metallic equipment
  • Temporary cathodic protection during construction or system commissioning

Installation & Accessories

Flexible Installation Configurations

Available as bare or pre-packaged anodes for direct burial and a wide range of cathodic protection applications.

Reliable Electrical Connections

Factory-installed lead wires provide dependable electrical continuity between the anode and the protected structure.

Conductive Backfill Options

Available with pre-packaged backfill to improve electrical contact and optimize performance in high-resistivity soils.

Corrosion Monitoring Compatibility

Compatible with reference electrodes, cathodic protection surveys, and structure-to-electrolyte potential measurements for ongoing system evaluation.

Long-Term Maintenance

Routine inspections and scheduled anode replacement help maintain continuous corrosion protection throughout the design life of the system.

Engineered for your application

No two cathodic protection systems are identical. Tell us the current requirement, electrolyte and installation constraints and we will configure the anode around them.
